International researcher’s house

As part of Angers’ endeavour to host foreign researchers more easily, plans are underway to build a “researchers’ house”.
Research continues to thrive in Angers, and the city is internationally reputed as a pioneering location, in the fields of plant science, electronics, biotech and tourism. In light of this, it made sense to build a facility specially designed to host foreign researchers, to make it easy for them to come and work here in the best conditions.
The Maison Internationale des Chercheurs d’Angers (MICA) is scheduled to open its doors in the Saint-Serge university area in 2021. It will contain twenty studios to house international researchers working at local laboratories over interim periods: too long to stay in a hotel, not long enough to rent accommodation.
As well as offering a housing solution, this researcher’s house will make it easier for them to settle in and get the most out of their time here.
This project is being undertaken by Angers Loire Métropole as part of France’s State-Region planning contract.
