Angers’ retail offering serves the whole region. Easy access and parking mean that Angers is an attractive solution for everybody living in the region, and makes it one of the best places to shop in Western France. Shoppers can find all the major high street retailers here, but there are also many regular markets and special events, such as the Christmas market.
Angers Loire Métropole attracts shoppers for three reasons:
- The town centre, which is the biggest shopping location in the Maine-et-Loire, and comprises a great selection of clothes shops,
- Retail parks on the outskirts of the town, with increasingly modern facilities which cater to specific markets and high-growth sectors,
- Improved shopping facilities across the region as part of a local policy to provide retail coverage in all directions across the whole region.
> The town center
The town centre is Angers’ busiest shopping area. It is extensively pedestrianised and features elegant buildings and attractive shop fronts. The town centre, where you will find premium brand names, stretches from the impressive and centrally-located Place du Ralliement. Having been redesigned to accommodate the arrival of the tram, this part of town now enjoys an even larger pedestrianised area and offers easier access to the city centre. The Cœur de Maine project currently underway is expected to boost this thriving environment further.
